Course Overview
This course is designed to provide the learner the basic understanding of stroke and the acute stroke management of clients. Participants will be able to understand the rehabilitation of stroke from a PT and OT perspective. At the end of the course, the participant will be able to perform individualised therapy intervention prescribed by the therapist
Course Objectives
At the end of the course, the learner is able to:
- Understand the pathology of a stroke
- Understand the role of PT/ OT in stroke rehabilitation
- Understand the needs of a client with stroke
- Learn the various types of ROM from PROM, AAROM, AROM, resistive ROM, depending on severity of stroke
- Participants will learn about balance exercises in both sitting and standing and the principles of progression.
- Participants will understand OT role in stroke rehabilitation with ADL activity and some BADL tasks
- Participants will learn how to assist client in safe ambulation, up and down stairs and proper way of using walking aids.

Mr Atienza Sedfrey Del Moro (Tom)
Senior Physiotherapist & Senior Trainer, St Luke’s ElderCare
Mr Tom Sedfrey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (Philippines) in 2005. He has more than 10 years of working experiences as a practicing physiotherapist in ILTC sector in Singapore. His areas of interest include neurorehabilitation (Stroke & PD) and geriatric rehabilitation.
The full course is $261.60 (including prevailing GST). Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singapore Citizens/Permanent Residents and 45% for work pass holders working in eligible community care organisations.
