Course Overview
This course focus to provide relevant and useful information to guide healthcare professionals in the assessment and management of skin and wound care of lower body. Foot ulcers can occur in any person, and is described as broken-down skin, appearing on the lower leg or feet. Even small ulcers on the foot can turn into a serious risk because they may heal very slowly and need rigorous treatment to heal. Foot ulcers can also develop into serious infections, with the probability of amputation at an advanced stage for a person with Diabetes 1.

Course Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- promote best practice in maintaining patient skin integrity, ensuring consistency of clinical practices related to prevention and management of skin breakdown / tear.
- perform monofilament test for DFUs and ABPI accurately with handheld doppler.
- identify and describe skin lesions and conditions among the elders.
- adopt the ABC Model for Leg Ulcer Management, apply compression bandaging / hosiery effectively.

Hafidah is passionate and has deep interest in wound care, particularly in the management of skin tear, pressure injury, and ostomy care, negative pressure wound therapy, compression bandage and has conducted many wound courses and workshops for nurses and carestaff. She has done collaboration research and presented during 2nd TTSH Nursing Conference and 22nd Join Singapore-Malaysia Nursing Conference 2017 on wound camera. Another collaboration with SGH on Understanding and Improving Venous Leg Ulcer Outcomes of Patients on Compression Therapy in the Tropics.
The full course is $327.00 (including prevailing GST). Prevailing course fee subsidy at 90% for Singapore Citizens/Permanent Residents and 45% for work pass holders working in eligible community care organisations.
